Hot Wheels DC COMICS 3

Well folks, there you have it, the 4th wave case assortment from Hot Wheels Pop Culture series has just been release in the states last week. There's a master list available that ill be posting up in my next posting. For now let get some look into this DC Comics 3 (DC3) wave.

I've a mixed feeling on the card packaging for this DC3. For one, am so so glad that Mattel retain the original card back layout and backdrop from the nostalgia DC1 & DC2 series and bring it over to Pop Culture. Now there are in sync when display together like they are in the same series overall.

On the other hand, a felt that a difference card card layout and backdrop is needed as this is after all a difference series but with the same concept as Nostalgia. Furthermore, the character used in this DC3 is kinda repetition as they have already appear (difference art) in Nostalgia series. How i wish there were other notable character to use like Green Lantern, Mister Freeze, Poison IVY, Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Bane, Huntress, Power Girl, and list goes on and on.

Casting selection for DC3 is not too great but also not too bad, just right in the middle thanks to the 55' Chevy Panel and Austin mini Van. Now the questions remains, is there a Bike in the Chevy Panel? Will reveal once i have this set in hand.

8 CRATE / BIZARRO
67' AUSTIN MINI VAN / HARLEY QUINN
56' FORD F-100 PANEL / SUPERMAN
55' CHEVY PANEL / BATMAN
68' STUDEBAKER CHAMP / JOKER
COOL-ONE / CAT WOMEN

Retro & Pop Culture

Its about time Mattel hears us collectors but hope won't let us down along the ride. Am glad and happy that both adult collector series Retro Entertainment and Pop Culture has made its appearance in the local retail market. Heard rumors and such since December of 2012 that both these series might or might not appear in local market.

Kudos to Mattel and Hotwheels to finally bring them in. At 1st the Pop Culture wave featuring the Looney toons appear in only selected specialty toy store (only 3 that i've known that sell those). Then early this month, the Muppets series made it ways to selected Hypermarkets and retail store. This week all hell break lose as Retro Entertainment wave 1 and 2 were release in as well.

Thanks to collectors news and info, i've manage to score some nice pieces from both the series. Hopefully to find others in the series that i've miss out on. Oh, retail for both series is going for RM 19.90 each only. Good luck hunting.

Retro Entertainment wave 1 featuring..
KNIGHT RIDER : KITT
GHOST BUSTERS : ECTO-1
66' TV BATMAN : 66' BATMOBILE
SCOOBY DOO : MYSTERY VAN

Pop Culture: The Muppets - DAIRY DELIVERY

Year End Mattel Sales!

There is this time of year where i think most of everybody (in Hotwheels) is most excited about, The MATTEL Warehouse Sale!. Can't believed that Mattel Held another at year end after the last Sales in early of the year. Anyway, heart pounding and pulse beating, the race is On for the most exciting sales of the year...

This time the event is held not in Mattel Office Block but at a secluded Mall called the SS2 Mall in PJ. Guess the reason behind is Cheap Rental, Spacious, and Cheap and Abundant Parking space. Also since its a Mall, there are food stall and restaurants. More detail below:-

The Banner near the entrance and also all main entrances to the event, showing locations, time and dates of the events and what's available.

Entrance of the event, Cashier counter at front and all the merchandised behind.. lots of ppl too.

Click on pic above to see enlarge Panorama view. Lots of people, lots of toys and not forgetting.. Lots of DUSTS too!!  Yes! , lots of dust, that because its an unrental space hence no floor finishes, hence cement/sand dusts as a result of so people walking, running and box pulling etc etc. Made you wonder why all the staff are wearing face mask, very very Hazardous to health indeed.

After making my way to the hotwheels sections, saw lots of familiar faces of friends and collectors alike there. Grab an empty box and start filling it up with all the goodies available. Once the dusts scenario become unbearable, quickly made my way to the cashier and left the place for a fresh breath of air.. ahhhhhh..

Below are what i manage to grab, but still a lot i missed out. Was told lots of stuff sold out within the 1st hour arrghhh, anyway glad to be able to grab these... :)

Disney Pixar's CARS Deluxe series, always wanted the Pope, PopeMobile and Queen car, finally got it at a steal without paying high price.

HotWheels DC Universe Character cars, already got the Superman, Green Lantern and Joker earlier on, so these 5 made a nice additions to the sets..

HOT ONES! those are never seen before at retail, at least not to me so am very excited  to see them there, did spend an amount of time looking and choosing them all but didn't manage to grab some other nice casting.

Last but not least, did some scavenging (looking around other people unwanted stash) and found the followings.. lucky me. Batman 1/50 scale WAVE 2 which is just release in the retail market and RACING series Road Racers which is only available in the Race Event organized by Mattel recently. Awesome finds for me.

Overall its was a good sales, could be very much better if the place not so dusty. Glad to have made it there. So guys don't miss it again next year. Cheers.

This is the Starter Pack from Custom Motors series which feature the Batmobile Tumbler from BATMAN : The Dark Knight movie. The Tumbler can be transform into a Battle Tank mode using those add-on interchangeable parts.

BATMOBILE COLOR SHIFTER

Newest release from the Color Shifter series featuring Tumbler (Batmobile) from Batman The Dark Knight. Really didn't expect the series to release this but nevertheless its great seeing it in the series. It easy to spot this as the bottom left corner of the card have a BATMAN picture on it, so if you search on the bottom side, you know what to look for if searching for this piece.

The dilemma i have is that Hot Wheels didn't use the word "TUMBLER" but "Batmobile" to describe this casting whereas other series has been using "Tumbler". Also the design / color changes use is exactly shown in the movie. Camouflage version to Black version.

This is the Camouflage version

This is the Batmobile version

No extra to open up and see the actual color changing for now, until then enjoy..

BATWING - 1:50 BATMAN series

Hot wheels release a 1:50 scale series based on DC's comics character BATMAN in 2008 and 3 series was release so far. Releasing all Bat-related vehicle in this series from Batman MOVIE, TV series, cartoon series, comics book and others.

Very simple packaging design, Bat-logo follow the vehicle series and in this case the Bat wing was from the original Micheal Keaton's Batman movie (1989). Plastic blister on cardboard back packaging.

Back of the packaging show others Bat vehicle in the series with all other manufacturer and licensing details.

BATWING was release in series 3, a first for Mattel (if am not wrong). Batwing spot a display stand and base with openable cockpit. Diecast body with rubber like wings.

The ball joint at the display stand allow the Bat wing to be pose facing up, down or sideways but has limitation to it as the ball joint is not fully without constraint.

A simple comparison in size for the 1:50 scale BATWING with its 1:64 BATMOBILE counterparts. Can pose them all side by side as it looks like the scale is matching.
