Hot wheels : Mystery Cars 2007

In 2007, Mattel Hot wheels offer collectors a new series in their regular lineup of basic cars called “MYSTERY CAR”. These Mystery cars are so called because of its packaging in BLACK plastic on cards. A total of 24 difference models are offer in this series and collectors cant see what in the packaging until they open them. This is a great marketing strategy to get collectors to buy them to trade /sell in order to complete the series.

Initial speculation by some collectors that THUNT (Treasure Hunts) are IN these mystery cars thus making them sold out in an instant and making it hard to finds. Also there is a code at the back of every blister card of this mystery cars that leads to collectors to think that those code represent which cars are in them. Later Mattel official said that there is NO THUNT in them special packaging series and that those code is nothing more then just reference number for retailer.

Since the Mystery cars series was so popular, Mattel has continue to include this Series in its yearly basic cars run series in 2008 and coming 2009. For those collectors that keep carded cars Unopened, guess in this series they have to open them up in order to complete them.
