COLOR SHIFTERS

When i first blog about the Color Shifter Series back in 2009, never had i anticipated that the series will last this long. The series lasted for 5 years from 2008 - 2012 and with tons of difference feature introduced into the series.

The initial series only had 2 color change which is trigger with Cold and Hot water. Later on the series introduced a 3 Layer color change which was introduced as the Color Shifters Creature in which HW animals / insects designer cars was used. In 2011 & 2012, more feature was added to the series such as :-
  • Glow in the Dark. (Will glow in the dark if placed near light but only on it's Warm color)
  • Metallics (which have a metalflake finish)
  • Water Revealers (graphics revealed with warm temperature)
  • Hypercolor (an array of colors when touched)
  • Chromatics (chrome when warm)
  • X-Rays (body becomes transparent when warmed)

Early release with just the Cold and Warm Water color change.

Some of the popular Casting use in the early Color Shifter series are
Dodge Chargers, Vipers, Corvette and Camaro

The 67' Camaro was used and feature in the Series up to 4 Times!

The CS: Creature re-introduced lots of the old Animal / Insects
casting from the Mainline. Also feature a 3-4 layer of color change.

The CS: Metallics is one of the few new feature for the CS line.

Other Newest Color Shifter feature available above
(GLOW in Dark, HyperColor and Water Revealer).
I personally really like those  Glow in the dark series and X-ray (Below).

Sadly sales for this series is not that promising hence the cancellations of this line after 2012. I guess pricing pay a major point in products sales as well as casting used in the series. All in all it was a great series and i had manage to grab some very interesting piece for my collections.

Fast & Furious Card Var.

With the movie release date coming closer, the Hot Wheels' Fast & Furious series is starting to appear in the States and in Online Auction sites. Here are the comparison photo for the US carded with the International carded.

For me, i really liking the US card more as u can see from the photo.. "Official Movie Merchandise" and the Movie Logo from all the movie are also on the carded. But for those collecting carded or Fast & Furious Fans, collecting both version of the card is as fun too. As for the cars, both version spots the same details, casting and paint apps on them. Enjoy the photo.

U.S. card (LEFT) / International card (Right)

There you have it fellow collectors, both US cards and International cards which is your preference? Would you collect both carded or just the one that you prefer. Also would there be a 3rd version somewhere out there?

The other notable Fast and Furious Card will be from the Mainline itself. When i get hold it it i will do another post on them. Until then, cheers and happy hunting.

HW FAST & FURIOUS

So its finally here, Hot Wheels' Fast and Furious (FnF) series was release ahead of the Franchise Movie that is to be release later this month. The series will have a total of 8 casting selected from all 5 difference FnF installment. From the 8, there is 5 muscle car and 3 import and they are not Real Riders Tires. Almost like mainline cars with special movie carded packaging. Made one wonders since there is a license why not a Retro Entertainment that feature some of the cars.

Let's start off with the case box, each case box consists of 12 carded cars which only have a complete 1 set of 8 and 4 extra cards. For those collecting in set, buying a case box is so much easier then finding a set from pegs.
Case box arrangement, 4 pcs to a row and with 3 rows. Only complain is that all the carded somewhat have some minor (if not major) damage due to the box packing. As notice by most case buyer, the cardboard is too thick and when folded it made the case box looks bloated.

The complete set of 8 consists of the following casting:

1/8 - 1970 Dodge Charger R/T
2/8 - Toyota Supra
3/8 - Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
4/8 - 1967 Ford Mustang
5/8 - 1970 Chevelle SS
6/8 - 2009 Nissan GT-R R35
7/8 - 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8
8/8 - 2011 Dodge Charger R/T

(**Case assortment might differ. )

The carded packaging is showcasing all 5 movie poster is which the casing appear in. There isn't any of the name shown like "Too Fast too Furious",  "Fast Five', "Tokyo Drift" and so on, just a generic "Fast & Furious" titles on all the cards.

1/8 - 1970 Dodge Charger R/T

2/8 - Toyota Supra
3/8 - Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
4/8 - 1967 Ford Mustang
5/8 - 1970 Chevelle SS

6/8 - 2009 Nissan GT-R R35

7/8 - 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

8/8 - 2011 Dodge Charger R/T

Practically, all cars are metal body / plastic base or vice versa. They feel like mainlines with more paints app and closes to movie accurate as possible. Its Plastic wheels mine you and price is not too high a premium for them (at least to local collector). And off course the movie carded packaging which keep this a good collector set to own. New casting would be the Toyota Supra making its 1st appearance in this series followed by the mainline series.

All in all, a nice set to have if you are a fan of F&F series and its cool cars. Available mostly at Local toys store, with some appearing in departmental store countrywide. They are going fast just like the series name implied. Cheers and happy hunting.
